Safron & mood

I love ginger and turmeric, but I am also a big fan of the “golden spice”, saffron 🧡!

Derived from the Crocus sativus flower, saffron contains compounds like crocin and safranal, which have antioxidant properties and may support a balanced mood.

While no single food can single-handedly boost our mental health, research suggests that saffron supplementation or consumption may offer several benefits:

The quality and sourcing of saffron really matter. Low-quality or fake saffron products are unfortunately common, so it’s key to choose saffron sourced from reputable growers.

It’s important to consult a healthcare professional before taking saffron supplements or consuming large amounts in food, as saffron may interact with some medications and health conditions.

Saffron is so versatile! I enjoy adding a few strands to a cup of herbal tea in the evening. I personally use Sara Saffron (no affiliation) as I trust the quality.

How about you? Are you a fan of saffron? If so, how do you incorporate saffron in your diet?
