About Nutritional Therapy

If you’re looking for personalised support to improve your diet and lifestyle, Nutritional Therapy is the perfect option for you. Want to know more? Let’s take a look at exactly what it is and what it entails.

Watch this short video to learn more about the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT), the professional body for Registered Nutrition Practitioners in the UK.

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is a complementary medicine where evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle interventions are used to support the body systems and promote good health. The food that we eat and the way we live our lives can have a profound impact on our health and wellbeing — whether good or bad. In short, Nutritional Therapy seeks to ensure that the impact is positive.

Main Focus

The overall aim of Nutritional Therapy is to bring about positive health changes through a combination of diet and lifestyle modifications. It can help support:

  • Digestive health
  • Hormonal health
  • Mental wellbeing
  • Sleep quality
  • Energy levels
  • Blood sugar balance
  • Weight management
  • Immunity

Is Nutritional Therapy different from conventional medicine?

Nutritional therapy can be used alongside conventional medicine, but it is not a replacement. I refer clients to medical professionals when necessary. It's important to ensure your therapist is registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and is a full member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT).

BANT Full Membership requires qualifications from a Level 6 or higher course accredited by the Nutritional Therapy Education Commission (NTEC), ensuring you’re working with a trained, regulated and insured professional.

Who can benefit from Nutritional Therapy?

Anyone can benefit from nutritional therapy. Understanding your individual relationship with food and how your choices affect your body can be hugely empowering. I work with clients managing everything from perimenopause to ADHD and self-regulation challenges.

Whether you’re facing complex health conditions or simply want to feel and function better, a personalised plan based on your unique profile can help you reach your goals.

How does it work?

We’ll begin with a free 20-minute discovery call to discuss your goals and health challenges. After this, you’ll complete a detailed questionnaire and a 3-day food diary.

This helps me prepare fully for your first consultation. Depending on your needs, I may also request recent test results.

During our initial consultation, we’ll explore:

  • Your medical history
  • Symptoms
  • Current diet and lifestyle

This information will help identify root causes of imbalance. Based on your profile, I’ll design a practical and achievable plan, along with handouts and recipes to help you take action.

Can I get my tests done through you?

I’m happy to write to your GP to request appropriate tests at no extra cost. However, some tests aren’t available through the NHS. In such cases, I may recommend private testing and/or nutritional supplements. Please note that the cost of private tests and supplements is not included in my fees.

What happens after the initial consultation?

Sustainable changes happen over time. After the initial session, we’ll schedule follow-ups to assess your progress and adjust your plan. With the right support and encouragement, you’ll feel confident and empowered to maintain your results.

Some clients like to check in once or twice a year to review their health or ask for updated advice. I offer a special rate for returning clients and truly enjoy supporting long-term success.
