I experienced quite a lot of stress during my thirties, which I certainly believe had a detrimental effect on my health and fertility. After a lot of investigation, I was told I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). I also had sub-clinical hypothyroidism and skin issues. I became motivated to retrain and study nutrition because I wanted to understand the root causes of my health issues and help others with similar issues. While I am now blessed with two children and in a much better place with my health, I know all too well that modern life can be really hectic and mess up our hormones and our digestive health. Later, as I entered my forties, I started experiencing subtle hormonal changes. I made adjustments to my diet and lifestyle, knowing that my hormones would thank me for it.
I’m glad I had these experiences, as it helps me relate to what my clients are going through. Whether you’re in your 20’s, your 50’s or beyond, hormonal disruptions can wreak havoc on your health and quality of life. Not only do hormones affect our energy levels, digestion and waistline, but also our mood, sleep quality, skin health, libido, fertility and brain health. This is why I start with a thorough 75-90 minute consultation and work with you to find the root causes of your symptoms. I will provide you with personalised tools to support your health and your hormones naturally with diet, nutritional supplements and lifestyle adjustments. I also support women who are taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT), tailoring each person’s nutritional advice in line with their prescribed medications. I want to help you feel empowered and better as a result.
I have worked with clients experiencing PCOS, thyroid conditions, weight gain, insulin resistance, premenstrual syndrome, chronic stress, endometriosis*, fibroids, migraines, perimenopause and menopause. I have extensive training in hormonal health. I also completed the course “Confidence in Menopause”, which was developed by Dr Louise Newson and her team. It is an online education programme for healthcare professionals who would like to formalise and accredit their learning and consulting skills around the area of the menopause.
*Note that endometriosis is not a hormonal condition. It is an inflammatory condition that is affected by hormones.
I offer a comprehensive range of hormone tests. I am also trained to look at genetic testing to further personalise my dietary recommendations and support hormone health, based on your unique genetic make-up.
