About Nutritional Therapy

If you’re looking for personalised support to improve your diet and lifestyle, Nutritional Therapy is the perfect option for you. Want to know more? Let’s take a look at exactly what it is and what it entails.

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is a complementary medicine where evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle interventions are used to support the body systems and promote good health. The food that we eat and the way we live our lives can have a profound impact on our health and wellbeing, whether good or bad. In short, NT seeks to ensure that the impact is positive

What is the main focus of Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Treatments aim to bring about positive health changes through a combination of diet and lifestyle modifications. Nutritional Therapy can help support :

- Digestive health
- Hormonal health
- Mental wellbeing
- Sleep quality
- Energy levels
- Blood sugar balance
- Weight management
- Immunity

Is Nutritional Therapy different from conventional medicine?

Yes, NT can be used alongside conventional medicine. However, it is not a replacement and I do refer clients when necessary. When you consult a nutritional therapist, it is crucial to ensure that they are registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), as well as being a full member of a professional standardss body such as the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT). BANT Full Membership requires qualifications from a level 6 or higher degree level course accredited by the Nutritional Therapy Education Commission (NTEC). This guarantees that you are working with a fully trained, regulated and insured practitioner.

Who can benefit from Nutritional Therapy?

Anyone can benefit from NT. Understanding your individual relationship with food and how your dietary choices affect your body can be hugely empowering. I see a wide range of clients with varying health needs, from perimenopause symptoms through to ADHD and issues with self-regulation. Whether you have complex health challenges or just want to feel better and function optimally, a personalised nutrition plan based on your unique health profile will help you to achieve your goals.

Get in touch

How does it work?

We’ll start with a free 20 minute discovery call, where we’ll chat through your goals and get a better understanding of your health condition and challenges. When we work together, I’ll send you a health, diet and lifestyle questionnaire, including a 3 day food diary. Filling this out in advance helps me prepare for your consultation and make best use of our time together. For clients with specific conditions or hormonal imbalances, I may ask you to include a copy of your latest test results (when applicable).

During our initial consultation, we’ll discuss:

- Your medical history
- Symptoms
- Current diet and lifestyle

This information will help identify the underlying causes of any imbalances. Based on your individual needs and preferences, I’ll put together an achievable plan to help you reach your goals. Along with a bespoke nutrition and lifestyle plan, I’ll also provide you with handouts and recipes to help you put your plan into action with ease.

Can I get my tests done through you?

While I am very happy to write to your GP to help organise certain tests at no extra cost, it is worth being aware that not all tests are available on the NHS. In these cases, I sometimes recommend private testing for specific symptoms, as well as recommending nutritional supplements. Please note that private tests and supplements are not covered in my fees.

What happens after the initial consultation?

The most sustainable changes are those that are made slowly and incrementally. After your initial consultation, we tend to have follow-up sessions, where we’ll review your health and progress and make any necessary adjustments. With the right advice, gentle encouragement and ongoing support, you’ll feel confident and motivated to stick with the programme and achieve balance long-term.

Some clients like to check in once or twice a year, to get advice or talk through any health changes they’ve experienced. I offer a special rate for returning clients and enjoy providing ongoing support to continue their success stories.
