About Nutritional Therapy
The food that we eat and the way we live our lives can have a profound impact on our health and wellbeing. Nutritional therapy is a complementary medicine where evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle interventions are used to support the body systems and promote good health.
Nutritional therapy can help support:
Blood sugar balance
Each person is unique, and rather than a “one size fits all approach”, my nutrition and lifestyle plans are tailored to your own needs and goals. I want you to feel comfortable and I ensure that our one-to-one consultations take place in a relaxed and non-judgmental atmosphere, whether it is a face to face or through an online consultation. All consultations are strictly confidential.
Note that nutritional therapy can be used alongside conventional medicine. However, it is not a replacement and I do refer clients when necessary. When you consult a nutritional therapist, it is crucial to ensure that they are registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), as well as being a full member of a professional body such as the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT). BANT Full Membership requires qualifications from a level 6 or higher degree level course accredited by the Nutritional Therapy Education Commission (NTEC). This guarantees that you are working with a fully trained, regulated and insured practitioner.
How Does It Work?
I send you my health, diet (i.e. a 3-day food diary) and lifestyle questionnaire. I may ask you to include a copy of your latest test results (when applicable). Filling this out in advance helps me prepare the consultation and make best use of our time together.
During our initial consultation (90 minutes), we discuss your medical history, your symptoms, your diet and lifestyle. We look at at identifying the underlying causes of any imbalances. Together, we work on an achievable plan to help you reach your goals. I provide you with a written personalised plan, including handouts and recipes, and a letter to your GP or consultant if required. While I am very happy to write to your GP to help organise certain tests at no extra cost, it is worth being aware that not all tests are available on the NHS. In these cases, I sometimes recommend private testing for specific symptoms, as well as recommending nutritional supplements. Please note that private tests and supplements are not covered in my fees.
During the follow-up sessions (30 minutes), we review your health and progress.
Note that consultations can also be conducted in French.
During our 1-to-1 consultations, I will look at your diet and lifestyle, and together, we'll find simple, sustainable and effective strategies to benefit you. Take the first step and book your free, no obligation 20 minutes call.
As a Registered Nutritionist mBANT, I also offer group workshops involving talks and food demonstrations. Do get in touch - I look forward to hearing from you!
