Helping you get everything your body needs from a Vegetarian or Plant-Based diet

Confused about how to follow a vegetarian or plant-based diet whilst making sure your body gets all the vitamins and nutrients it needs to thrive? As a registered nutrition practitioner, I work with clients who have a whole host of dietary requirements and preferences. However, I see more and more people who have stopped eating meat, a lot of whom are vegetarian or 100% plant-based. I am also often contacted by people who simply want to include more plant-based meals in their diet.

There are various reasons why people might choose a plant-based diet – ranging from environmental and ethical concerns to health matters. Studies also show that people who follow a predominantly plant-based diet have a reduced risk of developing heart disease, the majority of cancers, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. It can help support a healthy gut and hormonal health. The amount of positive scientific data demonstrating this is overwhelming. However, there can be potential pitfalls when making the move to plant-based eating, which is why it’s crucial to be well informed to ensure we are getting the optimum nutrition from our meals.

Vegetarian and plant-based diet advice you can trust

I am a member of the non-profit organisation Plant-Based Health Professionals UK (PBHP UK), with whom I have collaborated on creating factsheets, recipes and events. I trained for four years in Nutrition at the renowned Institute of Optimum Nutrition and also regularly attend CPD training. I completed the first university-based course on plant-based nutrition in the UK, with the University of Winchester, a course facilitated by Dr Shireen Kassam of PBHP UK.
